The book that changed my life

Hey guys, welcome back.

I want to thank you guys for dropping in today. In my last post, I talked about how in my past, I struggled with really focusing on things or tasks in hand.

If you by any chance missed it, you can check it out here.

At the end of my last post, I talked about this great shift that happened for me due to reading this ONE book. Today, I want to share that book with you. Remember I mentioned that I was a little skeptical about it in the beginning, so if you are in the same boat, trust me when I say, I have been there. It took a lot from me to let me guard down and really open up to something totally new for me.

Boy, am I glad I took that initial plunge and got out of my comfort zone!

Alright, lets dive right in.

The One Thing by Gary Keller

I gotta be honest. up until this point, I really hadn’t read much in the whole “self help or personal development” space. Maybe one or two books.

Something about this book though was different though. If it was like it cut out all the “fluff” of what I thought created success, and got down to the “nitty gritty” of what it really takes.

And you want to know something crazy cool?

It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. In my mind, to be successful in anything, you had to muster up this big spectacle and everything took a huge plan to get it done. I thought you just need more of everything, more tasks, more goals, give me everything!

Come to find out, this is really the furthest from the truth.

Gary (oh yea we are on a first name basis now) talks about how so many of us have been ultimately lied to about what it really takes to be successful.

He talks about how you really have to focus on your ONE THING.

Now this ONE THING (yes I am going to keep capitalizing it because of how important it is)

can be for anything.

For example..

Whats the ONE THING that will get you closer to achieving your..

-Business Goals

-Fitness Goals

-Family Goals

One of the first questions that really popped up in my head right of the back, so I’m sure you are going through the same thing is..

“How do you find out what your ONE THING is?”

Well, this is going to take you really digging down and figuring out what is important to you.

Lets use fitness as an example.. This might or might not pertain to you, but so many people deal with the endless circle of trying to lose weight.

“This is the year!”

They focus on getting the new workout gear, the new gym membership, they get a couple workouts in, maybe even stick it out and workout for a couple months.

But what they forget to focus on is what is really the most important part of the puzzle. The diet. So in this case, if you wanted to lose weight, your ONE THING would be to focus on really getting your diet on point. Everything else will follow.

Hope you guys enjoyed the post, tomorrow I will be talking about my biggest takeaways from the book!
