Welcome to GolfStat ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, who it may be disclosed to, the method of any such disclosure, and the security practices we have in place to safeguard it.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

• Account information: Your full name and email address, provided at registration.
• Golf performance data: Round scores, hole-by-hole statistics (putts, fairways, GIR, proximity, etc.), handicap index, practice session logs, and any notes you choose to record.
• Usage data: Information about how you interact with the app (pages visited, features used) collected to help us improve the service.
• Payment information: Subscription payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. GolfStat does not store, see, or have access to your card details at any time.
• Support communications: Any information you voluntarily provide when contacting us by email.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely for the following purposes:

• To provide, operate, and maintain the GolfStat app and its features.
• To calculate and display your golf statistics, handicap data, performance trends, and AI coaching recommendations.
• To manage your subscription and process payments securely via Stripe.
• To share your golf performance data with your selected coach, but only if you have explicitly opted in via the "Share my stats with my coach" setting.
• To respond to support requests and enquiries you send to us.
• To send service-related communications (e.g. subscription renewal notices). We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
• To monitor and improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. Your information is accessible only to the GolfStat team.

Limited disclosure may occur only in the following circumstances:

• Payment processing (Stripe): When you subscribe, your payment details are transmitted directly and securely to Stripe via encrypted connection (TLS/HTTPS). Stripe processes the transaction on our behalf and is bound by its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance standards. No golf data or personal profile information is shared with Stripe.
• Your selected coach (opt-in): If you explicitly enable "Share my stats with my coach" in Settings or during setup, your golf performance statistics are shared with the specific coach you have selected. Your coach can view your reports (read-only) and push practice recommendations to you. Your coach cannot edit or delete your data. This sharing is entirely optional and can be withdrawn at any time. Only coaches granted portal access by GolfStat admin can view shared data.
• Legal obligation: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority.

No other disclosure to any third party takes place. Your data is never sold, licensed, or traded.

5. Method of Disclosure

Where disclosure is necessary (e.g. to Stripe for payment processing), data is transmitted exclusively over encrypted connections using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. No personal data is transmitted via unencrypted channels, shared by post, or transferred to parties outside the scope described in Section 4.

6. Advertising

From time to time, GolfStat may display promotional content or advertisements within the app. These will appear in the form of clearly labelled clickable links or banners — for example, links to golf equipment, coaching services, or relevant golf products.

No personal data, usage information, or behavioural data is shared with any advertiser. Advertisements are selected and placed directly by the GolfStat team. We do not use any third-party advertising networks, tracking pixels, or profiling technology in connection with adverts.

7. Security Practices

We take the security of your data seriously and have implemented the following safeguards:

• Encrypted transmission: All data exchanged between your device and our servers is protected using TLS/HTTPS encryption.
• Encrypted storage: Personal data is stored in secure, encrypted databases with access controls in place.
• Access controls: Only authorised members of the GolfStat team can access user data, and only to the extent necessary to operate the service.
• Row-level security: Your golf round data and personal information is isolated at the database level — users can only access their own data. Coaches can only access data of pupils who have explicitly consented to share, and only through server-verified functions that re-check consent on every request.
• Payment security: Card and payment data is handled entirely by Stripe under PCI-DSS compliance. GolfStat never touches or stores payment credentials.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure. We continually review and improve our security practices.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data and golf performance records for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you wish to have your account and all associated data permanently deleted, please contact us at golf_stat@yahoo.com and we will process your request promptly.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Object to or restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

10. Cookies

GolfStat uses only essential session cookies required to keep you logged in and maintain your app session. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. No third-party cookies are placed on your device through our app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published within the app with an updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of GolfStat following a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
